Naldehra - The Oldest 9-hole Golf Course

Beautiful hill station situated in Shimla District

Naldehra is a small beautiful hill station situated in the Shimla District of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is located at an altitude of 2,044 m above the sea level in between the beautiful Himalayan ranges.

Known for its natural beauty, treks, and the oldest 9-hole golf course in the country, Naldehra was discovered by the British Viceroy, Lord Curzon. The Naldehra Golf Course was founded in the year 1920 and is affiliated to many Golf clubs in the country, including the prestigious Golf Club Chandigarh, the BSF Golf Club Delhi, the Air force Golf Club Delhi and ARTRAC Golf Club Shimla.

Naldehra got its name from the Nag temple which lies in the centre of the golf course. Tourists can also explore Naldehra on a horse back, which is an awesome experience. Apart from golf, other activities like hiking and trekking are being done at the Shailey Peak, one of the famous peaks of Naldehra. Naldehra is also famous as a shooting spot for the movies. Many Bollywood movies have been shot at Naldehra. Apart from these activities, tourists can also enjoy tasty food at the roadside restaurants.

Best Time to visit Naldehra

The best season to visit Naldehra is from April to June and from September to October. However, one may also visit the place between December and February to enjoy snowfall.

How to reach Naldehra

The nearest airport is the Jubbarhatti airport, which is at a distance of about 43 kms from Naldehra. The nearest railway station is at Shimla, which is about 23 kms away from Naldehra. The other nearest railway station is at Kalka, which is about 116 kms away from Naldehra. Shimla is well connected to the Kalka railway station by The Himalayan Railway (Toy Train).
