Darjeeling - The Beautiful Hill Station

Famous Hill Station popularly known as Queen of Hills

Darjeeling is located near the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders in eastern Indian state of West Bengal, and is one of the most popular hill stations of India. It is situated at around 6,700 feet above sea level. It is an internationally renowned tourist destination which is also famous for its Tea industry and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Darjeeling is also known as “the Queen of hills” and the green tea gardens planted at high altitudes in the mountain slopes further adds color to the Darjeeling landscape. With its natural beauty, Darjeeling provides a wide variety of activities ranging from scenic walks to the adventurous activities such as trekking and river rafting.

  • It is situated at a distance of 13 kilometers from the town and offers magnificent view of the sunrise over the "Kanchanjunga" and the great eastern Himalayan Mountains.

The best time to visit Darjeeling is from March to June in Summers and October to December in Winters.

How to reach Darjeeling

The nearest airport is Bagdogra near Siliguri, which is at a distance of 93 km from Darjeeling. This airport is well connected to Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati. The nearest rail is New Jalpaiguri, is at a distance of 90 km from Darjeeling and is well connected to most of the major cities in India. From there, you can also take a ride in the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
