Calangute beach, known as the 'Queen of all beaches in Goa', is a crowded but the most commercialized beach of Goa. It was discovered by the hippies who came here during the 1960's and made this beach their favorite hideout.
This beach was earlier known as 'kolli gutti', which means "land of the fishermen" and later it renamed to 'Calangute'. It is considered as a heaven for beach lovers with lots of palm trees, beautiful view and the sand is full of beds for sunbathing. The local shops and stalls offers a wide variety of mouth watering cuisines and sell everything like trinkets, souvenirs, handicrafts and various other decorative items.
Best Time to visit Calangute Beach
Visit Calangute Beach in the morning but try to leave the beach before it gets dark especially if you have women in the group.
How to reach Calangute Beach
Calangute beach can easily be reached by road, which is just 16 kilometers from the capital city, Panaji.
